Week-end wedding in wine country

by seapearls1@bigpond.com
(Queenscliff Victoria)

We live down on the Coast of Victoria. We were invited to attend a late afternoon wedding in the Yarra Valley. This is quite a distance from our home and we would either have had to stay at a Motel or not drink so we could drive back home late at night. Best option. House swap with someone who lived close by.

The usual formula of touching base with likely prospects, selling where you live to any potential swappee and then extending the stay so we could enjoy a little more of the area we were travelling in to.

Success. 20 minutes from the wedding venue and a delightful area full of sights worth seeing, delightful restaurants and good shopping. We always add to the local economy as money is not spent on accommodation.

We have done enough of these swaps to feel comfortable that all will go well. Every home is different, but all are enjoyable for what they have on offer.

It rained on one of the days, but instead of being locked inside a motel room, we had the comfort of a fully equipped home to relax in.

House swapping has been very successful for us as a semi-retired couple.
