How do I get away?

My partner become unemployed and wanted a holiday to get away from it all but we have four cats and a collection of budgies so going away was out. It was always hard getting away and often we didn't bother.

Then she found a house sitting website which listed people from everywhere who wanted to guard our house and feed our animals. I was not enthusiastic about that at all but she placed our name on the lists and within a few days e-mails started to arrive. She interviewed two lots of people and decided that an older couple were going to be more reliable; particularly towards our beloved cats.
I locked my workshop and moved my wine collection to a friends house.
Everything went well, the animals and birds were well looked after, our mail was saved for us and our herb garden was watered. Nothing was out of place and these people are now firm friends who want to live in our house next time we can grab some time off. We'd highly recommend house sitting as an option as it saved us lots of money in kennals and we had no worries while we were away.
