My First Visit to a None Western Country

While we were on this trip around Europe I remember my boyfriend saying lets hop on a ferry and go across to Morocco. I was only 19 at the time and felt very nervous about what we might face in a country that is not western. Still he was a big guy and I felt safe with him after reading in the Lonely Planet about the dangers to look out for.

So we left our camper in Spain, hopped on a ferry and there we found ourselves in Morocco. Getting the train down to Marrakech was a bit nerve racking, but once we arrived I was blown away! It was an amazing experience.

We went on a tour into the High Atlas Mountains and all the way to the Sahara Desert where we slept in tents made from camel hair. The Marrakesh Medina (markets) were fabulous and we learnt the art of bartering. The experience left me hungry for more! It was then, we started planning our trip to Africa!
