Couchsurfing Review

- two couples experience

Couchsurfing Reviews

Brandi and Sam agreed to write a Couchsurfing review after enjoying their first experience of this type of accommodation and really loved the whole idea. They were visiting Australia from Minnesota.

"I was first introduced to the concept of Couchsurfing when my husband and I lived in New Jersey. Our neighbors were Couchsurfing hosts. They often had visitors from all over the world, and it was a blast to interact with them.

A year later, my husband and I began planning our own international adventure to Australia. We would be spending a week with family, but also planned to do some traveling on our own.

It was my job to arrange accommodations for this particular leg of the trip. I researched hotels, hostels, camping, etc. As I was researching, I remembered our Couchsurfing neighbors from New Jersey. I took a look at the website and started searching for Couchsurfers in the areas that we wanted to travel.

I contacted a couple to see if they would host us. At the same time, I was a little nervous to tell my husband about my idea...what would he think? Would he be game for the adventure? In the end, our would be hosts agreed to let us stay and my husband shocked me by getting really excited about the experience.

When we told our family and friends (who had not heard of Couchsurfing) about our plans, we received lots of mixed reactions. They all wanted us to report back. I am happy to report that we had a lovely time and definitely experienced Australia off the tourist track!

Our hosts were pros at staying with and hosting, they welcomed us in and provided a great first experience. We will definitely be seeking out couch surfers on our next trip!"

Couchsurfing review

Sandra's Couchsurfing review is about their experience in Scandinavia.

"We had heard about Couchsurfing from a few of our friends. I had ideas about how it could be both good and bad and was a little bit skeptical about trying it.

We joined the website and created a detailed profile of ourselves and started looking for people who we thought we'd be compatible with.

We found a lovely girl in Copenhagen who hosted us for a few nights. When we arrived she was extremely warm and welcoming. She gave us lots of information on the city and took us to 'hire' the local community bikes, which helped us get around the city for the whole time we were there! Sandra

A part from the free accommodation we really enjoyed getting an insight into a locals life. We got to eat the traditional foods, including amazing sausages and triple salted licorice.

Being invited into someone's home is such a unique experience, something you could never get from staying in a hotel.

We are so glad we tried Couchsurfing and we would highly recommend it to anyone who needs help with their budget while backpacking and what's a 'true' local experience in any particular country!"

Couchsurfing is not just for young people and backpackers. There are families that travel with Couchsurfing and people who are over fifty who also have great adventures with this type of accommodation. So explore the couchsurfing website, do a search with age and see what you can find.
